Carpet, pad and tack strip
Carpet and pad come up quickly, but tack strip leaves nail holes and the pad and glue can leave a residue. What is left is scraped and ground off before any finish.
Typical cost in Casa Grande
A Casa Grande slab may have been covered with carpet, tile, vinyl, glue or an old coating. Restoration clears those layers, repairs the slab and hands it over ready for sealing, dye or polish.
About one home in five in Casa Grande was built before 1980, so some floors have carried several coverings. Maricopa and Coolidge are in our range too.

Carpet and pad come up quickly, but tack strip leaves nail holes and the pad and glue can leave a residue. What is left is scraped and ground off before any finish.
Glued flooring and its adhesive have to be removed, because glue left on the slab shows through a finish. Mastic and adhesive load diamond tooling quickly, so the work can take longer than the area suggests.
After tile is lifted, ridges of thinset remain, and they are ground off to bare concrete. Tile removal can chip or crack the slab at the edges, which is repaired next.
Paint and thin coatings are ground off with coarse diamonds. Thick films may need a different approach, and any coating is tested before it is cut.
Old floor tile and black mastic in older homes can contain asbestos, so test before any grinding. Grinding flooring that contains asbestos can release it as dust.
Casa Grande is in Pinal County. Pinal County runs its own air quality program, so check with the county or city before grinding old flooring. We do not test for or remove asbestos.
A control joint is a planned crack: it steers where the slab splits but does not prevent splitting. On a ground floor the joints, hairline cracks and old patches stay visible, so filling them is built into the plan. A crack that moves or a floor that has settled is a job for a structural engineer, not for a finish.
Once uncovered, a slab can reveal moisture stains, patched plumbing trenches, saw cuts and soft or dusty spots. A weak surface can lose aggregate or fail to take a high gloss, which a test spot reveals. Industry advice, such as a contractor bulletin on post-tensioned slabs, is to locate the cables before cutting or coring one. We do not cut or core slabs.
Can you polish an existing concrete slab? Yes, once it is bare and repaired, and the result depends on the slab.
How is glue removed? It is ground or scraped off, and heavy mastic takes more effort than a thin film.
Will cracks disappear? No. They can be filled, but they stay part of the floor.

Cleared and repaired, the slab is ready for whichever finish suits the budget. The lighter option is grind and seal concrete floors, the full polish is described on the Casa Grande Polished Concrete home page, and stained and dyed concrete floors covers color.
What is on the floor now, about how old is the house, and do you know of glue or old coatings? Say which finish you want afterward. We'll get back to you soon with an estimate or any questions we have. Estimates are free and there's no obligation.
