Casa Grande Polished Concrete stains and dyes concrete floors in Casa Grande, on interior floors and garage slabs: stain or dye alone, or color under a polish. The color sinks into the slab or sits in its surface, so each floor comes out a little different.

We work on interior and garage floors, not patios or driveways, in Casa Grande, Maricopa and Coolidge.

Stain, dye and color

Acid and reactive stain

Reactive stain, such as acid stain, colors the concrete itself and leaves tones that vary with the slab, a fit for a mottled look.

Water-based stain

Water-based stain sits in the surface and offers a wider color range with less movement across the floor.

Dye under a polish

Dye is applied to the ground slab before polishing, and the polish then adds depth and light to the color. Dyed and polished floors are covered here, and a plain polish is on the home page.

Color with a sealer

A stained or dyed floor that is not polished gets a sealer to protect the color and set the sheen.

What the slab decides

Color takes differently on every slab. A cream surface and a floor with aggregate showing do not look alike once colored, and patches, cracks and trowel marks show through the color. A test spot on the actual floor shows the real result before the floor is committed. Variation in tone is part of the finish and is not a defect.

Color choices

Warm tones such as terracotta suit desert-style rooms, neutral greys and tans keep a floor quiet, and dark charcoal and sage give a garage or office weight. Samples on your own slab are better than a swatch.

Caring for colored concrete

Ask your installer which cleaner suits the floor, and keep to it. Spills should come up quickly. A guard coat may or may not be worth adding. How color holds up in bright light depends on the product, so ask about the one used on your slab.

Stained and dyed floor questions

What is the difference between stain, dye and paint? Stain and dye color the concrete, while paint is a film on top.

Can an existing floor be stained? Yes, once it is bare and clean, and old coatings and glue have to be removed first.

Does color fade? It depends on the product and the light, so ask the installer.

Nothing colors a slab that is still wearing carpet, so concrete floor restoration is step one for those floors. Garages that need a tint get a second look under polished concrete garage floors, and the Casa Grande Polished Concrete home page links all five services.
